Iguazu Falls with Kids: Complete Family Guide

Guide to Visiting Iguazu Falls with Kids

Iguazu Falls is a perfect destination for families. Kids are fascinated by the water, the wildlife, and the jungle. Here's everything you need to plan your visit.

What's the Recommended Age?

Any age. Many families visit with babies in carriers. The trails are accessible and safe. The key is good planning.

Recommended Trails by Age

Babies and toddlers (up to 3 years):
  • Upper Circuit — flat, short (1 km), with railings. Stroller-friendly
  • Ecological Train — little ones love it
Children aged 4 to 8:
  • Upper Circuit + Lower Circuit (there are stairs, but they're safe)
  • Green Trail — short, with butterflies and toucans
Children aged 9+:
  • All circuits, including Devil's Throat
  • Great Adventure (boat ride under the falls, from age 12)

Can You Bring a Stroller?

Yes, but only on the Upper Circuit and the Ecological Train. The Lower Circuit has stairs. We recommend an ergonomic baby carrier as an alternative.

Practical Tips for Families

  1. Arrive early — less heat, fewer crowds, kids have more energy
  2. Bring plenty of water and snacks — food in the park is limited and expensive
  3. Sunscreen and repellent — reapply every 2 hours
  4. Change of clothes — they will get wet
  5. Don't feed the coatis — they get very close and can bite
